The Sovereign

Of all the animals in the Nothern Western Hemisphere, one of the most beautiful has to be the north American Elk. Sought after by hunters for his majestic rack, admired by all for his magnificent stature, the elk remains as one of the most sought after trophies in the world. Having once seen a magnificent bull elk in the wild, it is a sight one never forgets. Although they are not an endangered species, the elk populations are decreasing due to loss of habitat as our population increases and the demand for more land increases.

The painting depicts a magnificent "Royal" elk, a seven pointer, standing in a meadow in Yellowstone National Park, home to many trophy elk.
