Night Coach to Lordsburg
Before the railroad extended it's tentacles across the
Western Territories, most travel was done by overland
coach or horseback. Needless to say, this was
often times a very dangerous undertaking, especially
during the Indian Wars period. Hot during the summer
and cold during the winter, coach travel was
nevertheless the preferred mode of transportaion.
The painting depicts an overland stage coach on it's
lonely journey through the western nightscape,
destination - Lordsburg.
